Education Philosophy
Support and education are the cornerstones of our mission. By providing the community with the tools and knowledge necessary for responsible pet ownership, we aim to reduce the number of animals entering shelters and ensure every pet lives a happy, healthy life in a loving home.
The Barren River Animal Welfare Association (BRAWA) is dedicated to fostering a culture of compassion. Through our diverse programs, we offer ongoing support and resources that empower owners to be the best advocates for their companions, strengthening the bond between humans and animals.
SNAP Vouchers
The Spay/Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP) is a vital resource for our community, helping to reduce pet overpopulation and ensure the health of our local animals. Through these vouchers, we provide financial assistance to pet owners who might otherwise struggle to afford these essential procedures.
Eligibility & Program Details
- SNAP vouchers are available to Barren County residents.
- Eligibility is based on household income or participation in public assistance programs.
- Vouchers cover a significant portion of the spay/neuter surgery cost at participating veterinarians.
To apply for a SNAP voucher, please visit our shelter during business hours with proof of residency and income. Our team will guide you through the application process and provide a list of participating veterinary clinics in the Barren River area.
